Taking practical teaching

Professor Shao deeply knows the important implications of teaching and education, so he sets himself as a worthy example and takes a lead in behavior; keeps moving and pursuing the perfect in professional work. He asks students and young teachers to have both medical ethics and skills and master both clinical and scientific research abilities. Professor Shao treats everything consciously, especially for the cultivation of knowledge in students. Each year for the seven-year and international college courses, professor Shao prepares lessons carefully and updates new knowledge at times. He also organizes all the teachers to prepare lessons and also does on-the-spot guidance. He always reviews papers very carefully for graduate students and young doctors, and doesn’t even miss a punctuation error.

For the graduate students’ teaching, professor Shao pays attention to inspire their creative minds; encourage them to put forward their own opinions and ideas and cultivate their abilities of independent thinking and solving problems. No matter how busy he is, he would get round to inspect and guide their work. In the process of graduate students’ reporting, professor Shao not only emphasizes the logicality and preciseness of power point presentations, but also pointes out the advantages and disadvantages in every speech. At the end of the reporting, he explains the slides making and speaking skills for everybody, which makes them benefit a lot. After all that hard work, professor Shao returns home past midnight, which moves everyone. On the eve of graduating students’ presentation, he makes time to review the slides for all the students. At the same time, he uses the limited ward round time to impart clinical experience to them and he does teaching throughout his clinical work. In the graduation thesis, one student has written that, our mentor, professor Shao, with his excellent academic level, persistent scientific spirit, serious research attitude, superb clinical skills, excellent character, selfless dedication spirit and positive attitude towards life makes him as our learning role model in our whole lifetime.
